Music and ministry are intimately woven together throughout the Scriptures. We believe music was created not only for our personal enjoyment, but so we might encourage each other on the Christian journey and, most importantly, give praise and thanks to our living Lord.
The Music Ministry of Chattanooga First promotes sacred vocal and instrumental music from all periods of history that has a clear message rooted in Biblical themes with melodic and harmonic structures that glorify God, not the performer.
Whether it’s singing hymns in the congregation, singing in the choir, playing an instrument, singing a solo, or enjoying various concerts like our annual community Messiah sing-along, we invite you to join us as we seek to praise our Creator and Redeemer with excellence!
Covenant of Praise
In September, 2001, Covenant of Praise men’s chorus was begun to give an opportunity for men of all faiths to sing praises to our Lord and Savior as a witness in churches and other venues in the greater Chattanooga area and beyond. We asked the Lord to have us “in the right place, at the right time, with the right message, for the right person(s).” We know that He has been doing this ever since, and He has shown us how, from time to time.
The music of Covenant of Praise is mostly traditional. We look for songs that speak of the love of our Lord and His soon coming. Over our 17 years He has allowed us to produce three CD’s: “Love Through Me” (2008), “‘Til the Storm Passes By” (2012), and “A Little Bit of Christmas” (2017).
In addition to our music ministry, we also maintain an active prayer ministry. Prayer request/praise cards are given out at each program, and we encourage the audience to share their prayer needs with us. These requests are prayed over at the end of each rehearsal session on Friday evenings. It’s been amazing to see how He answers our prayers!
In July, 2014, Covenant of Praise became a music ministry of the Chattanooga First SDA Church. The chorus’ only sources of support are still through love offerings and CD donations at our programs, not from the Church Budget. And, the chorus gives back to the community through monetary assistance to various SDA schools students, and to other SDA ministries such as ADRA, Adventist World Radio, and It Is Written.
Our pledge to Him: “As long as He gives us breath, we will give Him praise!” The chorus is always open to new members joining.
